Before installing any of the LEGO software on XP (or 2000, for that matter) I highlysuggest downloading the latest versions of Quicktime, DirectX, and RealPlayer. Theversions on the LEGO software were never intended for XP or 2000 and may cause problemson some systems. For RIS1.0, acknowledge the 256 color error and proceed with installation. When itis finished, right-hand-click the "Robotics Invention System" icon and choose "properties".Select the "Compatibility" tab and check "Run this program in compatibility mode for...Windows 98/Windows Me" and check "Run in 256 colors". Click OK. The installation leavesthe "LEGO MINSTORMS(tm)" application open after install is completed. Hit CTRL-ALT-DELand end that task or restart the machine. For RIS1.5, install the software. After installation, edit the shortcut propertiesfor the "Robotics Invention System" icon. On the "Shortcut" tab, the "Start In" directoryshould say "C:\Program Files\LEGO MINDSTORMS" (not "C:\Program Files\LEGO MINDSTORMS\Probe.exe"). - Rob > -----Original Message-----> From: Scott A [mailto:eh105jb@mx1.pair.com]> Sent: Monday, December 02, 2002 3:43 AM> To: lego-robotics@crynwr.com> Subject: RIS 1.5 & XP?>>>> Will it work?>> Scott A> --> Did you check the web site first?: http://www.crynwr.com/lego-robotics>--Did you check the web site first?: http://www.crynwr.com/lego-robotics
